I'm a 45 year old married Mom of two grown children and an aspiring writer. I'm also a new Christian who still holds fast to my beliefs of human rights such as same-sex marriage and legalizing marijuana. I'm a lover of all things purple, classic rock & roll (Fleetwood Mac being at the top of that list), folk music, movies of all kinds (especially classic), European history, tattoos and my Lord and savior above all else. I'm a vegan (no meat or dairy products nor any animal clothing of any kind) for moral reasons and a survivor of bankruptcy. I will sometimes share personal insight about that horrific time in our lives when we didn't know where our next meal would come from, how we got through it & how we are now as well as my new journey into Christianity. You may not always like & agree with me, but you also never know where your next enlightened moment will come from. God opened MY heart and mind -- he can open yours, too.
It is my fervent wish that you will see my words, feel my pain, hear my laughter, appreciate my wit, share my frustrations, wipe my tears and mostly that you will hope with me--as it is my hope that some of what I write about will resonate with anyone out there going through the same things as we are.
Stay with me...I haven't been anywhere much in my life, but found that when one has the gift of vocabulary and the "chutzpah" to just put it all out there--words can color as vibrant of a picture as any palette full of shiny, acrylic paint or the broad spectrum and subjectivity of a photographers eye.
So, follow me as I journey through bankruptcy proceedings while picking up a little humor, grace and dignity along the way.
But, I warn you....fasten your seat belt, it's going to be a bumpy life.
Peace, love and happiness, Jo

Thought Or Quote Of The Day:
“Loves conquers all things except poverty and toothache.” ~Mae West
Still in pain--stupid tooth!
What's For Dinner:
Hamburger Helper, veggies and salad
What I'm Watching Tonight:
'Community' on NBC
What I'm Reading:
'Tribute' by Nora Roberts. I gave my Mom this book (paperback) for her birthday last month--we're both huge Nora Roberts fans. It's about former child star, Cilla McGowen--now happily employed as a home restorer--who moves back to her famous family's hometown in Virginia to restore her late movie star Grandmother's (who presumably commited suicide in the 70's) dilapidated farm house back to it's original grand beauty--and maybe restore her famous family's name in the process. All the while she's fending off feelings for an alluring neighbor with an 'ugly dog'. She also finds herself embroiled in a mystery after finding some old love letters in her Grandmothers attic leading her to believe that perhaps her once quite famous Grandmother didn't die of suicide after all, but rather murder....
My Causes (click on the logos below to get to their websites and see how you can help):
Deceit (especially by people whom you have entrusted and cared for), bigotry/hate, red roses, meat and dairy, leather and fur, people who say 'SupposABLY' instead of 'supposEDLY', ignorance, discourteous drivers, people who don't say 'thank you' when you hold a door open for them. Narcissists and those who lack compassion for humans and animals. I especially despise circuses.
Anything in the purple/fuschia family, tattoos (particularly those that mean something personal), The California Angels M.L.B. team, Disneyland, a movie that will sweep me away with laughter, tears or nostalgia and a good book that will do the same. Filmmakers and writers who "think outside the box"--Diablo Cody, Quentin Tarantino, Troy Duffy, Ron Howard, Cameron Crowe. Authors--Nora Roberts, Dan Brown and Frank McCourt (quite a contrast in authors, I know). Websites--I.M.D.B., Blogspot, Popeater, The Daily Beast, Twitter, Save Schapelle Corby. T.V. Shows--'U.S. OF Tara', 'Nurse Jackie', 'Weeds', 'Californication', 'The Tudors' (all on Showtime), 'Big Love' (HBO), 'Big Brother' and 'Survivor' (CBS), 'Mad Men' (AMC). Things--snowmen, hummingbirds, butterflies, dragon flies, dark faeries, Halloween, ' I Love Lucy', Bettie Page, MS research and involvement, animal rights. Classic Rock, Folk Music, 80's Hair metal. Favorite words--kitsch, myriad, plethora, visceral. However, probably my most FAVORITE thing is my sons laugh. And I absolutely LOVE the pictures below:
